LA IDEA
Partiendo de un gran interes por el retrato, muy motivado por dos asuntos: 1º seminario que realicé en la UIMP en Santander 1982, impartido por Alberto Schommer y 2º el libro de Pedro Meyer "Herejías, propongo para este proyecto la realización de un libro, (pudiendo ser tambien un libro de artista) donde muestro una recopilación y realización de mis retratos.
Son parte de un proyecto mas ambicioso, ya que en principio también incluía la realización de una exposición de estos retratos al tamaño 1 x 1 metro, posponiendo la exposición, la realización de este libro espero que me ayude a ordenar el proyecto. Los retratos no serán muchos, pero si los que para mi son mas significativos y crea que merecen la pena estar aquí.
En cuanto al título, "UNO POR UNO" recoge la idea de individuo único, separao de los demás, pero unidos todos por esta muestra. Tambien indicaba el tamaño de ampliación, un metro por un metro.
La técnica principal es la fotografía, con ella intento reflejar el alma del modelo, nunca con la intención de robarsela, como pensaban los pueblos primitivos en los primeros tiempos de la fotografía: ser fotografiados significaba dejarse arrebatar el alma.
Tampoco pretendo inmortalizar al modelo, algo que parece ser ya pretendían las estatuas sumerias, las efigies egipcias, los nobles de la edad media …
Lo que sí noto, es que al final del retrato si suele mostrar una semejanza psicológica muy grande con el modelo. Y si no, haremos caso a Picasso cuando en 1906 pinto el retrato de Gertrude Stein, y ésta le manifestó la inexistencia de parecido con ella, Picasso respondió: “ al final ella logrará parecerse al cuadro”. No sabemos por qué pero al con el paso del tiempo Stein mostró un parecido asombroso con el retrato de Picasso.
Cada indivíduo es distinto a otro, por eso los retatos que realizo no siguen la misma técnica ni estilo ni forma de trabajar.
THE IDEA
From a great interest in the portrait, very motivated by two issues: 1 seminar I conducted in the UIMP in Santander 1982, conducted by Alberto Schommer and 2 book Pedro Meyer Heresies, I propose for this project the completion of a book (may be also an artist's book) where I show a compilation and execution of my portraits.
They are part of a more ambitious project, since in principle also includes the conduct of an exhibition of these portraits to size 1 x 1 meter, postponing the exhibition, the realization of this book I hope to help me order the project. The portraits are not many, but which for me are most significant and create worthwhile to be here.
As for the title, "ONE BY ONE"captures the idea of a unique individual, separate from others, but all united by this sample. Also indicated the size of enlargement, one meter by one meter.
The main technique is photography, with her attempt to reflect the soul of the model, never with the intention of stealing, as primitive peoples believed in the early days of photography, being photographed meant to snatch the soul left.
Nor do I mean to immortalize the model, which appears to be intended as Sumerian statues, effigies Egyptian nobles of the Middle Ages ...
What I noticed is that at the end of the picture if you usually show a very large psychological similarity with the model. And if not, we will ignore when in 1906 Picasso painted the portrait of Gertrude Stein, and she told him the lack of resemblance to her, Picasso replied, "at the end look like the picture she achieved. " Do not know why but over time, Stein was a striking resemblance to the portrait of Picasso.
Each individual is different from another, so the retatos I do not follow the same technique or style or way of working.
